Settings and the licence.

Every section of the Settings screen, and what the trial and the licence actually do.

Licence

The trial, and after it.

The trial: Fourteen days with everything working. Settings shows how many days are left.
When it ends: Keeping new things waits for a licence; reading, search and export stay open. Your memory is never held hostage.
Buying: Press Buy on the MindToo page. Polar handles payment, VAT and receipts, and emails your licence key as soon as you buy. A founding licence is £29 once, with every 1.x update, on up to three of your own computers.
Activating: In Settings, under Licence, paste the key and activate. Or, from a terminal, mindtoo activate KEY. Settings then reads "Active" with the key masked, and the window shows Licensed.
Re-checks and offline: The key is checked with the shop once, then about weekly, and keeps working for 30 days without a connection. If it has gone longer than that, connect once so it can be checked.
Refunds: There is no automatic refund: the fourteen-day trial is for deciding before you pay. A request after buying is considered on its own; write to support@privateai.ltd.
Moving computers: Your key is on your Polar purchases page, where you sign in with the email you bought with, and can free a computer to use the licence on another.

The rest of Settings

Appearance: Dark by default, light if you prefer, or whatever Windows is set to.
Remember everything: The switch that keeps every message you send and every reply, in every connected assistant, only on this computer. Turning it on or off takes effect when each assistant is quit and reopened.
Start with Windows: MindToo starts quietly in the tray when you sign in, so your assistants always have their memory.
Search by meaning: A small model built into MindToo finds memories that mean the same as your question, even with different words. It runs on this computer and never goes online. If you run your own local embeddings server, mindtoo embeddings URL MODEL points MindToo at it instead.
Backups: A complete copy of your memory, made every day, and whenever you ask for one. Restoring a backup brings back anything deleted after it was made; nothing you have now is changed.
Your data: Everything MindToo holds is in one file on this computer. Export it any time, even without a licence, with Export everything; mindtoo import FILE brings an export back.
Uninstalling: Uninstall from Windows Settings like any app. Your memory stays in the .mindtoo folder; install MindToo again and it is all still there.
